In a bold move to infuse their children’s sections with creativity and curiosity, suburban libraries across the region are being encouraged to bring back the creepy red hand chairs that were extremely popular in the mid 2000s.

Characterised by bold red or blue plush and an open palm design, these unconventional chairs are very beloved by primary school kids, who like to envision themselves curling up in the hand of a giant.

While some parents may initially raise an eyebrow at the sight of these unconventional furnishings, many are quick to recognize the benefits they offer.

“They do give me the Herbie jeebies,” admits Sarah Ackles, a mother of two. “But seeing how excited my kids get when they see those creepy red hand chairs, I can’t help but appreciate the library’s efforts to make reading fun and engaging for them.”

A librarian at Betoota Ponds Public Library, James Hoyt, also echoes this statement.

“We only have two of them, and it’s always a shit fight when we get a horde of school kids in.”

“They love those weird as fuck chairs.”

More to come.
