The Cunningham family has this week gone on a frenzied search for their nan, after almost losing her (and her weekly pension) to the glitz and glamour of the Betoota Tavern pokies room

The Betoota Tavern or ‘Toots Tav’ as it’s affectionately named, is a beloved establishment for families in the Ponds district, due to its nightly meal deals (especially $10 steak Tuesdays), cheap booze, Keno lounge, pokies room and the creme de la creme – a decked out creche filled with Playstations, TVs, and a money eating confectionary claw machine, where parents can drop their kids off for four hours while they sink piss.

Speaking to the Cunningham’s matriarch, Gina, our reporter learns that even though the tavern is a prized bogan establishment, it can have its shortcomings.

“Going to the Toots Tav is like going on a mini holiday”, explains Gina, 32, “ you see, unlike the silly yuppies, who can’t drink their beer in peace without their kids running riot in the breweries, we know to lock ours in a room to play Fortnite in a room for a few hours.”

“Or back in my day, it was Crash Bandicoot on the PS1.”

Letting out a small chuckle, Gina adds that the night will usually come to an abrupt halt after nan wanders off to the Pokies room, which she somehow always able to do without anyone noticing.

“She’s fucking stealthy after a few, I tell ya.”

“Managed to sink $200 before we noticed she was gone.”

More to come.
