A Betoota Heights Primary School kid has quickly shot down any rumours that he has a girlfriend this week, by clarifying that ‘Kelsey’ is actually just his situationship.

Chatting to our reporter as he sucks down a blueberry flavoured vape, Josh Phillips, 12, says he’s just not in the right headspace to handle a girlfriend, seeing as he only just got out of a relationship eight months ago. Oh, and he just wants to focus on his homework right now.

“Yeah she’s not my girlfriend”, says Josh, rolling his eyes, “it’s like, just because we see each other every day, doesn’t mean it’s a thing, you know?”

“We’re both in class 6B, so it’s just convenient.”

When asked how Kelsey feels about this, Josh simply shrugs and says he’s ‘sure she’s fine.’

“We have a deal that we just hang out every Tuesday lunch time” he explains, as our reporter tries to hide her pained expression, “she knows I want to play the playground a bit.

“But if I feel like she’s too into me, I’ll put a stop to it.”

“I know girls can start getting attached after you hold hands haha.”

More to come.
