A sporadically unemployed 20-something party boy from North-West NSW has made his entire extended family very proud this week.

After 5 or so years bouncing between worksites in Newy and Sydney, the days of couch-surfing are over for Micky ‘Mazda’ McLaren (26).

It can be confirmed that his heavily financed ute and 16 different TV streaming service subscriptions will also be protected from any missed payments moving forwards, as Mazda looks forward to a bright future on some serious coin.

The news that this former schoolboy football prodigy has landed himself a long-term unskilled labouring position working on the Sydney tunnels has become a cause for celebration for the rellos back in Tamworth, who gathered for dinner last night to toast the young lad.

“Yeah we were worried about the young fella for a moment there” says one uncle, Dazza.

“It’s not bloody cheap living in the big smoke nowadays and he wasn’t getting anywhere fast. I always knew big Mazda would land on his feet, but jeez he’s done more than just that”

While the rest of his cousins work their arses off in white collars office jobs and apprenticeships, it looks as though Big Maz has secured one of the few golden tickets going round in the whole of New South Wales.

The Western Harbour Tunnel is an under construction tunnel through Sydney which is being bankrolled by a combination of private and public money. The six lane, 6.5 kilometre twin tunnels will run from Cammeray to Rozelle passing beneath Sydney Harbour. It is scheduled for completion in 2028, and will pay fuckloads to any bloke who is willing to spend the next four years underground.

Initially too young to get in on the NorthConnex or WestConnex, it’s not sure if Big Maz had been patiently biding his time to get a gig on the Western Harbour Tunnel, or if he’s just gotten lucky after six years of partying with his old footy mates in whatever towns they ended up in after school.

Either way, his brother says we don’t need to worry about Big Maz anymore.

“This is the dream mate” says Mazda’s brother, Subey.

“I was certain he’d be moving home to mow lawns, but here we are. Hopefully he buys the family home”
