It has been confirmed today that the people of Australia are far more intrigued by current the battle between two test cricket captains, than the outcome of the next federal election.
With a federal election looming around May next year, it has been confirmed that everyone is significantly more interested in who finishes the victor this summer in the Paine-Kohli matchup.
This comes after Australian Captain Tim Paine and Indian Captian Virat Kohli locked horns over the last few days in a battle that has many around the country enthralled.
The pair engaged in a slight physical standoff and have traded sledges back and forth in a throwback to pre-sandpaper gate days.
With Tim Paine asking an Indian player how he could like Kohli ‘as a bloke,’ and Kohli telling Paine that “I’m the best player in the world and you are just a stand-in captain,” among other things, the country watches on in anticipation.
“I’m loving this,” said one local at the Lord Kidman Hotel in Betoota’s Old City District enjoying a lunchtime beer in the hope that the Australians skittle the Indians lower order today.
“Tim Paine coming out of this series as a winning captain is far more important than who becomes the next PM,” he said.
“Maybe we should send those two (Shorten and Morrison) out to the middle to fight it out?”
“Might make them slightly more interesting and entertaining people.”
More to come.
