A heavy layer of steam has blanketed much of Brisbane this morning, with the weather bureau saying it is widespread throughout Queensland’s south-east and inland parts of the state this morning.

Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Danny Crocker it was “a pretty extensive layer of steam” and put it down to Billy Slater taking his lid off and hitting the showers after the first Origin team run at Red Hill this morning.

“Ohhh yeah! that was steamy” he said.

“[The fog] developed through the western suburbs of Brisbane and just rolled into the city around 6:00am or 7:00am,”

“It’s pretty much all related to Billy going nearly full nude in the showers”

“We believe Papalii was also a contributor to this steamy morning. He also has pretty tidy rig. Both men are almost jacked enough to run with Tina Turner on the beach”

After announcing the 17 players to take Queensland into a new era, Maroons coach Kevin Walters said the Origin career of Billy Slater is expected to go out with a bang.

“He’s definitely still got it in the looks department… Surely you guys saw the steam that covered Brisbane this morning?”

“I’m confident that it will translate to the field. He’s been playing some steamy football as well this year”
