A young French Quarter man has today completed a significant phase of his life.

Max Turpin-Smith (29) from our town’s bohemian hub has finally tied the knot on his footballing career.

The young outside back who once held dreams of moving to the east coast to pick up a contract has finally called time on his contact sport days.

The confirmation came this weekend, after Turpin-Smith bailed on footy to try out his new five and half thousand dollar road bike.

“It is over,” laughed the young man who will now only return to Sir Joh oval to sit on the hill in RMs with a tin in hand.

MTS as he’s known affectionately amongst his mates says the transition from a footy bro to a cycling bro was actually a really easy one.

“Standing around enjoying a post cycling piccolo with a bunch of lycra clad blokes is actually fairly similar to standing around having a tin with a bunch of muddy blokes in footy shorts.”

“It just means I don’t have to deal with a proper injury,” said the duck walking man who cycled way more than he should have on the weekend.

“Just sore legs and a tight tush.”
