PUT HIM ON THE STING! Australian sprinter Rohan Browning has been photographed with some new bodily illustrations today, just hours after NRL chairman Peter V’Landys confirmed he is interesting in recruiting the Sydney-based athlete into the rugby league ranks.
Under the bright lights of the Japan National Stadium, Browning reaffirmed his status as the world’s fastest white boy in the world on Saturday evening. A spectacular race in the men’s 100m heats saw him clock an impressive time of 10.01, improving on personal best by 0.04 seconds.
The 23-year-old’s flowing mullet made headlines globally as it sped past former world champion Yohan Blake, coming in first in his heat – and evidently catching the eyes of several NRL clubs on the look-out for new blood on the wing.
Unfortunately, Browning was eliminated Sunday’s semi-final, crossing the line fifth and failing to progress through to the medal dash.
However with the next Olympics only 3 years away, Rohan Browning has plenty to look forward to – especially now that it looks like he might be able to earn some extra coin trucking nut in the NRL on the side.
Browning has arrived home to Sydney today with a newly inked sleeve tattoo and a matte black Mercedes CLA, as he begins his transition into a full-blown leaguey.
And it seems his new look has already got some of the game’s greats talking.
With a sporting history in both rugby union and soccer, former NSW captain Joey Johns believes Browning has what it takes to make a first grade NRL side in the next 12 months – but ultimately doesn’t care if he knows how to kick or pass”
“We can do a lot with that speed. That’s all we need. Maybe he can find a spot at Parra or at at the Doggies” said the 8th.
“It would be a great addition for the Bulldogs to have the two of the fastest men on the planet on each wing”
NSW Coach Freddie Fitler says while Browning only needs to be able to catch and run to be an effective NRL winger, it’s positive to seem him putting in the extra effort.
“He’s already got the right haircut, and nowadays that kind of ink is almost mandatory”
“All I wanna see now is if he knows his way around a Pineapple cruiser. That’s what real wingers are made out of”
