In another twist to the Penrith fairytale last night, it seems that Panthers winger Brian To’o actually played for 80 minutes with 10x5cm suede ring box in his underpants.

Moments after defeating the Rabbitohs 14-12 in the neck-and-neck grand Final, To’o rushed to the sideline to propose to his partner Sala Moesha Crichton-Ropati was sitting.

With blood dripping down his face from the match, he open the box and proposed. She said yes.

“Man that was hard work” To’o told the Betoota Advocate.

“But it paid off. I’m very glad we got the win because the proposal would have been kind of weird if we hadn’t

When asked where the ring came from, and who was carrying it, To’o said he initially thought of entrusting one of the trainers to hold the ring for him, but didn’t want to jinx the team with any expectations.

“I just had to keep it to myself ya know. I carried on on me the whole match”

“It was pretty uncomfortable I have to say…”

“80 minutes with a rock in ya jocks”

The proposal marks yet another milestone for the Panthers character.

To’o was named Winger of the Year at this week’s Dally M awards after scoring 15 tries in just his third NRL season. He was also part of NSW’s winning State of Origin side this year, making his Blues debut with two tries in Game 1.

Last night, he also became the first footballer of the TikTok era to propose to his missus in the 10 minutes they get to spend together between his grand final win and his week long party.

“I’m pretty chafed if I’m honest bro” To’o says.

“Glad I didn’t lose the box either. That woulda been bad”

“But it all went to plan in the end. Me and the boys take home the silverware, and so does my missus”
