Former US President Donald Trump has all but guaranteed that he will face incumbent Joe Biden in the US election later this year after sweeping Super Tuesday.

Republican delegates in every voting state except Vermont today decided that Trump would be their pick, leaving many to come to the conclusion that 2024 will be just another one of those years where nothing good happens.

Those sentiments were echoed by 21-year-old communications graduate Holly Daley, who said that after her pandemic-affected final years at high school and severe per-capita recession ever since, she was hanging on to hope that something cool or nice might happen this year.

“I’m only young but it feels like nothing has really gone right since about 2016,” she said.

“And even then, things weren’t that good. How far back do you want to go? I guess you could say that about my entire time on this planet, it’s just gotten gradually worse. I don’t really know much about American politics but I have read what Donald Trump has said about women and all the racial things he’s been saying, like can’t we just have someone normal do the most important job in the western world?”

“I’ve seen so many videos of Joe Biden trying to do things. He’s so old. He has that old person look about him and he moves around the room like he’s catastrophically fucked up. At this point, I’m wondering why we all have to take part in society? You can’t opt out, can you? I just completed a useless degree, I’m $34 000 in debt to the Federal Government because of it. My parents rent, work and have no super. What do I do?”

“I know, I’ll just keep going in the hope that things will get better. What else can you do?”

More to come.
