The Liberal Party has turned broadside to the Nine Network this morning and fired a full salvo as they return serve over branch stacking allegations levelled at them during last night’s 60 Minutes episode.

Josh Frydenberg, the de facto leader of the Victorian Liberals, has suggested that all of what 60 Minutes broadcast last night is ‘simply baseless’ and ‘incorrect’.

“I think 60 Minutes should go back to reporting on things people care about like Bert Newton’s latest weight loss journey or Curtis Stone’s rocky road to mainstream success,” said the Federal Treasurer in Canberra today.

“Instead of spreading lies like they did last night. Michael Sukkar is a mate of mine and he’s not what those stupid reporters say he is,”

“So maybe 60 Minutes should stop pretending they’re Four Corners, which in my opinion has gone to shit since Kerry O’Brien left,”

“And like every other shit storm that engulfs this party, it’ll blow over in three of four days and in two weeks time, you would’ve forgotten about it.”

Michael Sukker nodded and patted Josh on the back before they both left without Michael saying anything.

More to come.
