A student at Betoota Polytechnic College (SBPC) is doing her bit to make sure the historical referendum later this year gets over the line by accusing those on the other side of being stupid redneck who’s probably also racist as hell.

Speaking on behalf of the SBPC Student Union today, Brucine Frisbee explained that correct way to feel about the upcoming vote on The Aboriginal And Torres Strait Islander Voice To Parliament is the way she feels about it and anyone who does is standing in the path of progress.

“They’re all stupid rednecks,” said the 22-year-old when asked what she thought about Australians who are either sitting on the fence or intending to vote no.

“They need to understand that they’re blocking progress, they’re standing in the way of our shared national future. They’ve just been brainwashed by Rupert Murdoch. Anyway, It doesn’t matter what’s in the constitution. Nobody except constitutional law experts, like me, even give a shit. Did you know there’s a special carve out for West [sic] Australia in the constitution? Bet you didn’t. Our constitution was only ever used as an instrument to usher in Federation quickly. It wasn’t meant to be kept the same. It was meant to be built. This is the next project we’re building.”

Fence-sitting local grazier Roger Green told The Advocate he’s waiting to see more information before he makes up his mind, which he says he keeps to himself over fears he might be ostracised by certain members of his family and wider social circle.

He likened it to buying a used car on the internet without even inspecting it, as the way things stand right now that is.

“Would you do that? I certainly wouldn’t buy a high-kilometre 75 series Landcruiser after just looking at a few pictures on the internet and have the bloke just tell me it’s good to go. I mean, sure. I’d buy a chisel plough or something, not many moving parts there but you know, they’re just asking for blind support of this thing and there’s nobody putting their hand up to run the ball up,”

“Am I missing something? I mean, I certainly don’t appreciate being called a stupid, dumb, ill-informed, racist redneck by certain sections of society for simply suggesting I’m not sure or I reckon they can do better. I’m all for voting Yes on this thing, if I like what I see, I’ll certainly vote yes but, you know, now’s the time to pull the finger out Albo and get on with selling this thing to people who drink instant coffee before fucking it up becomes your lasting legacy.”

More to come.
