Opposition Leader Peter Dutton has this week amped up his claims to turn Australia into a nuclear powered utopia.

The staunch advocate for alternatives to coal and gas has hit the media trail to claim that nuclear power is the way forward for our great southern land.

Despite doing absolutely nothing to progress the nuclear case during his decade as a senior government minister, Dutton says we need to seize the day and get moving.

His claims come despite Australia being the type of country that can’t keep asbestos out of children’s playgrounds and parks in major capital cities.

“I really don’t know what the hold up is,” said Dutton to The Advocate today.

“This Labor government need to pull their finger out and get moving on solving the energy and climate issues facing our country.”

“It’s just ridiculous how little is being done,” continued the man whose party only admitted Net Zero should be a target a couple of years ago.

While Dutton and the Liberal Party are yet to explain how they plan to transition the energy grid to nuclear power, they have promised a ‘blueprint’ ahead of this year’s federal budget.

“We are just crossing the t’s and dotting the i’s on getting rolling with nuclear reactors that take 20 years and countless billions of dollars to get up and running.”

“But it should see ordinary people’s power bills slashed…”

“By 2050…”

“If we actually manage to get something built on time.”

Dutton then refused to comment on why they weren’t actually putting up credible alternatives and opposition to the current government’s inaction on the energy crisis plaguing the nation.

“Boring,” he said.

More to come.
