The AFL’s newest team has already run into quite a significant hurdle.

With pundits frantically discussing issues like rosters, training facilities and coaching lists for the Tasmanian Devils – the people behind the new team are already facing a costly legal battle.

Less than 24 hours after announcing the overarching details around the newest AFL team to be based in Tasmania, the Devils have been handed a statement of claim by the makers of Drumstix: In A Biskit.

Still popular as a result of becoming a household staple in the early 2000s, the popular ‘biskits’ brand has revealed it will be pursuing the Devils for infringing upon their copyright.

“The Devils have until 2028 to sort their shit out, and they stole our design scheme,” said spokesperson for the brand Brix Hix.

“So, we are launching legal axtion (sic) against the AFL and the Devils to recoup the damages incurred by our brand, and seek that they remedy the logo. “

The Tasmanian Devils have confirmed to The Advocate that hey have been served with the legal ball up, and intend on fighting it all the way through.

“Come on, sure it looks like the Chicken Drumstix, but hey, no idea’s original no more,” said former AFL Player and face of the franchise Matthew ‘Richo’ Richardson.

“If we really were stealing their Intellectual Property we would have named the team the Tazzie Devilz.”

“They can take a hike.”

“We aren’t changing for them.”

“We may add a Satanic upside down cross for our special Dark Mofo round jerseys, but we will be standing firm on the colour scheme.”

More to come.
