The Northern Territory town of Katherine has had their lockdown extended until Monday after the Nregion recorded nine new cases of overnight.

The new spike in cases come after the NT recorded cases in both Katherine and Robinson River yesterday, sparking what was initially a snap 72-hour lockdown in some of the most vulnerable Indigenous communities of the Top End.

All nine cases in Katherine are close household contacts of the two cases announced last night and they are all Aboriginal residents.

The sources of the outbreak remains unknown, and the current cases include a 71-year-old man, a 65-year-old woman who has been admitted to Royal Darwin Hospital, a 62-year-old woman, a 40-year-old woman, a 38-year-old woman, a 22-year-old woman, a 16-year-old girl, and twin five-year-old girls.

While Territory MPs and health professionals begin to scramble to urged local mob to boost their case and testing numbers, the NT Government has held multiple press conferences aimed at bringing attention to the potential disaster for their Aboriginal community.

Unsurprisingly there has been little word from the office of Scotty From Marketing, as the Federal Government opts to talk about launching an inquiry into the ABC – the only news outlet with journalists on the ground in the rural Northern Territory.

Speaking to The Betoota Advocate today, Scotty told our reporters that half the MPs in the Top End are Labor MPs, so why the fuck would he do anything to help their voters.

“Maybe when these poor fuckers voter for us, we might do something to help them” he said, emulating the villianous Laurie Martin from Total Control.

“Plus. You know I’m not going to be able to do anything for them without a photo shoot”

“And unfortunately photoshoots in disadvantaged remote Aboriginal communities don’t do much for my brand”

“Unless there was some Australian cricketers or a celebrity chef there with me… Maybe I could pull off something cool”

However, the Prime Minister went on to explain that even if there was a way for him to focus-group a marketing angle on him providing support to the drastically under-resourced remote NT health services, he still wouldn’t be able to get his camera crew there.

“I can’t even visit the place because their LABOR territory government has shut the borders”

“So I’m sorry… Well, I’m not actually that sorry… But I am sorry to break it to you”

“You made their own bed up there”
