The federal Liberal party have today continued pushing on with their ‘No’ campaign against an Indigenous Voice to parliament.
Breaking rank with their state counterparts, Peter Dutton and an ever diminishing co have hit the media again to try and score political points by pretending like the Voice will be the end of days for our democracy.
“The Voice will be a threat to our democracy, and our way of life,” said Dutton, whose previous government spent the last few years laughing in the face of democracy by pissing away hundreds of millions in pork barrelling and supporting a leader who undermined democracy by secretly taking over ministerial portfolios.
His latest attempts to deliberately mislead the public into thinking that democracy is being threatened come after days of pretending like he cares about Alice Springs – a town he paid zero attention to for the decade he was in government.
While he offers no actual solutions to the problems he apparently cares about, Dutton has since tried to remind the nation about where the slippery slope of providing Indigenous people with a voice to a parliament, (that has no ability to veto or override anything) might lead.
“Look, it starts off with just a voice, but who knows where it will lead,” said Dutton.
“Before we know it, a Voice could mean we are abusing international law and illegally invading a sovereign nation to help promote US foreign policy and sure up their oil supply.”
After noticing reporters roll their eyes at the claim, Dutton then pivoted to try his other campaign ploy.
“It’s actually not going to make any difference to Indigenous peoples lives.”
“We need real change, that’s what we are pushing for,” he finished, refusing to detail any of the changes he has planned.
Indigenous leaders have then since confirmed that there are no covert plans to give the UN the middle finger and invade Iraq.
