Imagine an out of tune cacophony of 27-year-old women singing along to What Would You Do by City High. Unfortunately for the neighbours of Jenice Frawley, they don’t have to imagine it, this is reality to them with the young revelers next door hitting their stride in song 3 of So Fresh Summer Hits 2002.
“What would you do if your son was at home, crying all alone on the bedroom floor cause he’s hungry and the only way to feed him is to sleep with a man for a little bit of money” the group sang.
It’s understood that at this point a number of party guests stood up on the table and began acting out the painful life experience the City High artists were trying to portray.
One guest in particular, Jaqui Skolls, really made her passion for the song known. Usually the quiet brooding type, Skolls was leading the charge down on her knees with his arms wide open, really begging the question “what would you do?”
“Well, what would you do Sally?” Asked Jacqui, without a shred of sarcasm.
So fresh 2002 housed a number of classic early naughties hits like Alien Ant Farm’s, Smooth Criminal, or Afroman’s, Because I Got High, and the aforementioned What Would You Do, a song about the struggles of a stripper having to work for a buck to feed her son lying on the floor because he’s so hungry.
As this is only song 3 on what is a 40-song-strong, double CD, anticipation is high for hearing the group’s rendition of Nelly Furtado’s ‘Turn Off The Lights.’
