Local man Brian Phelps (37), known for his comfort over style fashion sense, has unwittingly become a style icon among fashion heads that are really into Y2K aesthetic.

His weapon of choice? A relic straight out of the early 2000s – a Velcro wallet that seemed to have time-traveled from the era of frosted tips and low-rise jeans.

Brian seems to have stumbled upon his newfound acclaim entirely by accident.

“I was just going about my day, minding my own business, when suddenly a group of young people started giving me these weird looks,” he recounted.

“Turns out, they really liked my quicksilver Velcro wallet”

“At first, I thought they were laughing at me,” Brian admitted.

Brian says the fashion focused onlookers were mainly concerned on where he was able to source such a rare artifact.

“It’s like something straight out of ‘The O.C.'” said one enthusiastic admirer.

“Do you even know how much you get for that thing on depop? Please tell me where you got this wallet.”

“I guess you could say I’m a trendsetter now,” Brian said with a chuckle.
