A year five student has today had their ego knocked down a couple of pegs, after they’d wrongly assumed they had the best book covers.

Jamie Grisham [11] is said to have been heavily involved in stationary shopping with his mum this year, and had picked out the graffiti style book covers he’d been positively sure would be the coolest in the class. That, and his mum splashing out on some sick gel pens, had left him smugly assuming he was an absolute shoe in.

However, as the class members of 5C started got acquainted with one another and compared book covers, Jamie felt the life crushed from him when he spied a holographic book covering glinting from the desk of his now rival, Charlie Hall.

As he’d watched in horror as a few of his new classmates crowded around Charlie’s desk to inspect his books, Jamie had tried desperately to keep his cool.

“Look at this”, Charlie had said, flipping his book back and forth so it caught the overhead light.

“That’s really nice”, said a classmate.

“Holographic, with extra laminate, Charlie had quipped back, before turning to Jamie.

“What do you think?”

Staring at his own book cover in horror before enviously taking another glimpse at Charlie’s, all Jamie could manage to squeak out was a “nice”, before turning around to hide his sheer rage.

More to come.
