Though most people prefer to watch wholesome movies such as Harry Potter when they’re hungover, local woman Hannah Shearston appears to find solace in violence instead.

It’s alleged the Betoota Heights local had hit it a bit too hard on Saturday night, to the point where she was bordering on mouth breathing mode the next day, and constantly pinballing with pushing through or forcing vomit in the toilet.

Facing both a mild headache and queasy stomach, Hannah had desperately sought any kind of reprieve from her sickness, which saw her turn to her favourite form of self soothing – watching horrifically gory movies in complete darkness.

Flicking through the horror section on her Netflix, Hannah soon found herself getting lost in one of her favourite horror movie franchises,  Final Destination. This movie is said to have had such a significant impact on her as a kid, that she still refused to drive behind a lorry containing logs to this day.

Speaking to The Advocate afterwards, Hannah says watching people getting impaled to death helps her to refocus her thoughts and not feel so bad about herself.

“Honestly, seeing someone try to remove a cage that will rip their jaw apart really helps with Sunday scaries”, says Hannah, referring to the Saw movie she watched afterwards, “how can I feel anxious when I’m safely tucked away in my room?”

“Like sure, my stomach really hurts.”

“But you know what hurts more?”

“A  pit of needles.”

More to come.
