Data released from the Australian Bureau of Statistics has this week revealed that Melbourne has officially surpassed Sydney in becoming the nations’ most populated city, which will be the first in over 100 years that harbour city has lost its crown to its emo sibling.

Though many have cited Melbourne’s ‘air of diversity’ as the leading cause of its popularity, Sydney siders have revealed to The Advocate that the real answer is a lot more simple – namely, Melbourne has stuck to the rule that every central business district should have at least one Target or Kmart, but ideally both.

“It’s fucking shit”, says Glenn [32], who lives in Woolloomooloo, “I’m know I’m being a sook but I don’t feel like making that extra small trek to Broadway.”

“The metro Big W is fucking shithouse and doesn’t count.”

“Even Brisbane City has a Target.”

Stating that Melbourne has a Kmart, Target and Big W all within walking distance of each other, Glenn says it’s interesting how much better cities work when someone’s actually put some thought into the design.

“And don’t get me started with Accor stadium.”

“Out in Bumfuck Idaho.”

More to come.
