Inner-Sydney police officer, Taylor Square (35) knows he’s not the world’s greatest copper, but that hasn’t stopped him from putting his head down and bump and grind his way to the top of the NSW Police Force.

Taylor says he loves what he does, ever since the first backyard party he ever broke up on his first ever shift with the jacks.

And like all cops working the inner-city beat down south, he takes his drug searches very seriously. Except, of course, when he is presented with an out of control Macquarie Bank Christmas Party.

But demanding that teenagers strip down and squat inside a make shift tent at Central Station isn’t necessarily a job that you can turn up for without your head in the game.

That’s why the suede vocals of Chicago RnB star R Kelly are currently booming through his police station.

“Finding one or two ecstasy tablets on 34% of the kids that our sniffer dogs sit down in front of can be quite draining” he says.

“I need at least three or four rotations of ‘I’m A Flirt’ and ‘Remix To Ignition’ before I can even put on my bodycam”

While the work that Taylor and his team does is often criticised by civil rights advocates – it appears to be well and truly appreciated by the NSW Police Minister.

David Elliott MP, has defended the practice of strip-searching minors, saying he would want police to strip-search his children if they were suspected of breaking the law. It has been described as a breathtaking glimpse into the detachment of a political class whose own kids will never have to catch public transport with the plebs.

New revelations have found that in the last three years police in NSW have strip-searched 122 girls, including two 12-year-olds. The NSW watchdog investigates the potentially illegal strip-search of an unaccompanied 16-year-old girl at a Splendour in The Grass 2018.

However, for the officers with their boots on the ground, the all powerful police minister is dropping real talk.

“We need to search everyone. Especially women” says drug-busting-super-cop Taylor Square.

“Even if a woman is underage”

“And even when a woman is fed up [with being constantly searched]”
