A local man has found himself experimenting in the kitchen, after marathoning his way through some Netflix cooking specials, it’s reported.

David Templeman [28] was feeling pretty inspired to ditch the usual canned beans on toast in favour of making something from scratch.

However, his attempts at whipping together his first-ever cheesy carbonara was quickly quashed, when he realised how hard it was to find a straightforward recipe.

“Yeah they don’t make it easy, I tell ya,” says David, to our reporter.

“Seems like every website is slowly becoming bite-sized listicles stolen from Reddit. But cooking websites? A fucking minefield.”

“I can learn everything I need to know about the conflict in Hong Kong through a series of animated gifs but I have to scroll through a whole dissertation and three newsletter popups before I can find a simple recipe for cream sauce.”

“I don’t want to read about the week you spent in Naples, Jessica.”

“This isn’t Eat, Pray, Love.”

David adds that he’d attempted multiple times to scroll past the flowery descriptions and personal anecdotes in an effort to find some cooking instructions when he was hit with a huge video ad – resulting in him throwing his iPad onto the couch in exasperation and fishing into his freezer for whatever was easiest.

“Nothing wrong with some good old McCain pizza. Pop some canned pineapple on it and we’re good to go!”

“Work smart, not hard, eh?”

More to come.
