In some exciting news from La La land, a couple of home grown heroes have managed to win an Oscar!

The boys behind the Fitzroy Garage Sesh have taken out the Academy Award for best set design.

Titled ‘Best Production Design’ the award recognises achievement for art direction in film, and is set to come down under after a historic day for a few Melbourne boys.

The film was released just before Christmas in 2022, and while it wasn’t screened in cinemas around the world, was widely tipped to take out the coveted award.

Many experts praised the ability of the posh Melbourne boys to turn an old garage, into a grungy sesh den for a bunch of young hipsters to party in a rapidly gentrifying suburb.

The Fitzroy Garage Sesh was one of the only major film’s not named Everything Everywhere All At Once to win an award.

The film starring Michelle Yeoh, who won best Actress, took home another 6 Oscars, sweeping the night of nights for big picture films.

The boys behind the incredible garage transformation were understandably unavailable for comment, but are reportedly keen to get back and kick it with lads down in Fitzroy with a few haircuts and seltzers.

More to come.
