As exhausted firefighters face the prospect of little to no family time over Christmas, Prime Minister Scott Morrison has come up with a unique way of keeping morale high amongst those on the frontline of the fight against the deadly bushfires.
“It’s such a great idea; once again my Liberal team has come to the rescue of the nation” an excited ScoMo said in a special media conference held in Hawaii yesterday.
“We all know the firies are probably pretty miserable at the moment, they have been working flat out to save lives and property, and many of them won’t get to spend Christmas with their families. By supplying them with green and red dye, we can bring a bit of festive cheer to the frontline and remind them of a happier time when Australia wasn’t on fire”.
When asked whether the $45m cost of air-lifting pallets of green and red dye to remote areas could have been better spent on firefighting equipment, ScoMo was adamant that Operation Dyes Traction was a worthwhile investment.
“We already have heaps of money leftover after we slashed fire services funding in the last budget, so to say that they don’t deserve to get some back is really disrespectful to the heroes of the nation. All we want to do is give these guys a bit of Christmas cheer.”
“And hopefully help them to forget the fact that we turned our country into a tinderbox and then took away some of the equipment they need to protect it. Besides, how good is green and red water-based dye?”
