A man from Betoota Heights has today moved to calm fears about the dating scene around town.

Jeffrey Gregory (27) from our town’s cul-de-sac capital has spoken to The Advocate about the current state of singles market.

“Mate, there’s a fair bit of carry on from these sheilas, isn’t there,” laughed Gregory.

“I not really sure what they are on about,” explained the man who has multiple photos of him with dead animals of fish in his dating profile, to accompany his bio which is a joke about one night stands.

“Good natured single blokes like me who are just trying to put their best foot forward, and I haven’t had any of these drought stricken ladies try and make a proper go of it.”

Gregory’s comments come of the back of a big few months of complaints about the state of the dating scene in Betoota, and Australia more generally.

From complaints about the personal hygiene, to ghosting to just flat out poor behaviour and social skills from single males in the community, social media and online news sites have been having a field day.

Claims that a ‘man drought’ is plaguing Australia has understandably been acknowledged by plenty of bachelorettes and dismissed by the majority of blokes out there.

Local man Gregory is of course of the opinion that the man drought is a beat up.

“Mate, these girls have to lower their standards a bit to be honest,” explained Gregory, who refuses to go on a date with anyone that looks like they have a BMI over 18.

“Like, they are all expecting Chris Hemsworth or something.”

“Sorry loves, it’s just not realistic,” finished the man who has a quite specific list of criteria he looks for in a woman for a one night stand, and then another longer list of criteria for women he won’t ghost after a one night stand.

He then called our reporter a simp for asking whether he could maybe make a bit more effort on first impressions, like maybe changing the photos of dead pigs and foxes on his Hinge.

More to come.
