A recent study by the Australian Farmers Federation, in partnership with both the CSIRO and Australian Bureau Of Statistics has found that cherries can never make you feel like you are full.

It has been confirmed that the average human will not even notice that they eaten over one hundred, maybe more, cherries on Christmas Day.

While there are so many health benefits to cherries that many people overlook in the midst of the severe bingeing, the Summer fruit is often looked at as nothing more then a default snack in between a light breakfast and several waves of Christmas roast.

However, it is true that cherries contain melatonin – the main chemical behind falling asleep. Cherries can help to normalize the circadian rhythm in your body. They also allow your body to have a melatonin reservoir to dip into – possibly why so many people launch into such deep food comas at around 3pm.

The study finds that the same cannot be said for rum balls or fruit cake, that almost take up as much space in the belly as a full plate of potato salad.
