The city council of Bundaberg, Queensland have today unveiled what is sure to be a hit with travelling Irish and Scottish fruitpickers. The Big Black Eye.

This 7 foot statue is the first of many designs set to make way for a new and improved Bundaberg, with plans to develop the cities retired port into a water park with six storey high-rises.

Local mayor, Lough Sabiffo says the Big Black Eye should give more people reason to visit Bundaberg, now that the Great Barrier Reef is looking a little shonky.

“Not many people are making the road trip anymore because no one wants to look at bleached coral”

“Bundaberg made for a great stop-over on the way up the coast, but now we are struggling. The Big Black Eye is one many new tourist attractions we have planned for Bundy”

The city, which sits in the middle of central Queensland coastline, is notorious for it’s production of the ‘Australia biff syrup’ also know as Sugarcane Champagne. The mayor says this new statue should give tourists a good insight into Bundaberg culture.

“Bundy rum has been around for 100 years and Australians still haven’t evolved to the point where we can have two or three without punching on”

“The black eye is iconic in Bundaberg, it’s almost like a badge of honour for people who were drinking the stuff the night before”

“The Irish and Scottish love getting into it, but fuck me, the Fijian fruit pickers drink it like water”

MORE TO COME.
