A bloke’s parents have today lamented what awful, no good luck they have this afternoon, after revealing they could have snapped up a million dollar home had they been a little bit more forward thinking.

Phil and Susan Gilford are alleged to have brought the topic up during a family get together, where their son Josh had mentioned the impossibility of getting a home. This topic, of course, had them saying it was no harder now than it was for them back in the day – despite the couple making a combined total of $70K a year, and purchasing a house and land for $150K.

“We had the opportunity to buy a house in Paddington”, says Susan, “but your father wanted something bigger than a worker’s cottage.”

“You know how much it’s worth now?”

“1.2 million.”

“Our house here is only worth $650,000.”

Despite living in a stupidly sized four bedroom house with no mortgage, Phil and Susan still think they could have done better.

“I guess it wasn’t in our cards to be affluent”, adds Phil, who’s actually had it pretty comfortable, “if only we’d had a crystal ball.”

It’s alleged Susan was going to complain about how their friends Tom and Sheryl had managed to snap up an investment townhouse, when their son was seen shaking his head and storming off.

More to come.
