The late July sun has momentarily fixed everything, as it pierces through leafless suburban trees and brings a brief reprieve from the dark winter.
Right across the continent today, the bright blue sky is saturated in the the light golden apricity, beaming down on the eyelids and exposed wrists of a nation that has been indoors for the last few months.
This delightful change in weather comes as hundreds of thousands of Australians face economic ruin, and many more live in constant fear of having their dreams and personal milestones wiped from the calendar with yet another hotel quarantine leak.
However, just like a hot coffee in the morning, or a hearty soup at night – that winter sun has reminded everyone that this cold, dark world is not forever.
With 239 new cases reported in greater Sydney, Australians are making an effort to appreciate the little things.
Like the glorious winter sun.
