The 2019 Academy Awards were full of surprises. From the anti-climatic Best Picture going to reverse-but-less-interesting version of Driving Miss Daisy, down to noticeable lack of Queen-related stage performances.

However, snubs aside, the night will be remembered for eternity – namely because of the breathtaking performance by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper.

Their intimate touchy-feeliness had tongues wagging to begin with, but the A Star Is Born duo really knocked it out of the park with their 6-minute rendition of Gaga’s first ever single.

‘Poker Face’ was the seminal chart-topper from Gaga’s debut album The Fame, which was released on August 19, 2008. It has become a cult classic among wasted chicks at pre-drinks right across the world.

Audience members say that upon hearing the pop icon begin playing the opening notes on a synthesiser disguised as a grand piano, it was clear that most of the room were confused as to how this song would sound as a duet.

“Turns out she let Bradley sing the ‘po po po po’ bit in the chorus” said Spike Lee, after being approached by reporters from the Betoota Advocate US bureau at the secret after-party in Harvey Weinstein’s derelict West Hollywood mansion.

“It worked really well. Little bit of weird choice, but I always like Gaga’s old stuff anyway”

It is believed that Bradley Cooper in now in talks with Akon and the rest of the team at KONVICT records responsible for discovering Lady Gaga.
