Pop-soul crooner Kamal played a show at Betoota Heights Workers Club last night to a sell out crowd, treating the audience to showtune favourite’s such as “Wonderful World”, “Chattanooga Choo Choo” and “Adam’s Song”.

As the singer went to get breakfast this morning at the French Quarter’s Le Pisse Dans Ma Poche Cafe on Rue de Branlette, witnesses say he got in a mildly heated argument with his manager while they waited for their $5 lattes.

It’s understood by The Advocate that Kamal, buoyed by his recent foray into sharing his opinion on the internet, wanted to compose his thoughts on the ongoing crisis in the Middle East and put them online for people to digest.

Witnesses say they saw his manager shake his head and refuse to hand over his phone.

As the two began to argue, his manager retreated backward toward the cafe where other diners were beginning to look. Instead of relenting and handing the phone over, Kamal’s manager pulled a hammer from a carpenter’s belt and threw the phone on the footpath and began striking it with the tool.

“I’m not letting you fuck this up for both of us!” his manager shouted.

“Australia doesn’t need to know what you think about geopolitics! They don’t need your thoughts on whatever’s happening in the Middle East!”

“Just keep singing! For fuck’s sake!”

The Advocate reached out to Kamal for comment but have yet to receive a reply.

More to come.
