Less than a month after Premier Mike Baird refused to indicate just where over $13 billion from the sale of electricity assets was to be spent, a report has been leaked highlighting plans to extend Sydney’s rail network all the way to Bondi Beach.

With $5 billion set aside for the Western Harbour Tunnel, pundits are scrambling to see just where the money is going to come from.

The leaked report contains engineers reports as well as costings for both the infrastructure and the buying of some property that will need to be removed should the rail extension go ahead. The report also contains conversations between Premier Mike Baird and minister for regional tourism and Infrastructure Troy Grant.

At one point the Premier writes “Troy mate, we need somewhere else for people to go. Wet n Wild are at their wits end and I can’t afford any more police to stop the daily all in brawls there (sic)

The report then shows Stuart Ayres question why the Northern Beaches isn’t an “option for the train line? to which Premier Baird responds “Troy, have you seen the rabble on the trains? My electorate have made it pretty clear that we don’t want any westies rolling in to cause shit.

In a move that could cause disharmony in the liberal front bench – Minister for Police and Emergency Services, Stuart Ayres, weighed into the debate when he was contacted by The Betoota Advocate. He stated off the record that the new plan intends to run express from the new hills line on the hour every day because “people out there have nothing to do but punch billies and clap for Jesus. At least this way they’ll be able to get out for the day and have a bbq on the iconic bondi sands.

In scenes reminiscent of the 2005 Cronulla Riots, there have been unconfirmed reports that there have been text messages circulating amongst Eastern City locals calling for action to “defend the east should the plans go ahead.

Premier Mike Baird is staying tight-lipped on the leaked report and it is thought that he is waiting until after the next election to announce the controversial plan.

More to come as the story develops.
