The Prime Minister has told Australians this morning to use their common sense and not go to the footy this weekend if you have the coronavirus.

Scott Morrison spoke to reporters in Sydney’s inner-west today where he explained that he’s been hearing about people with coronavirus going to public gatherings and that’s “doing his head in”.

“I urge all Australians to use their common sense and not go to the footy this weekend if you have the coronavirus. It’s that simple,” he said.

“Look, I know I told you all to just stop worrying about it – that the government has got this all under control – and I also told you to go to the footy this weekend and that I was looking forward to doing the same,”

“But Christ alive, people. If you have the virus, don’t go to the footy. I don’t know how I can make it any clearer than that.”

Mr Morrison shot down the suggestion that people might go to the football not knowing they have the virus.

“Don’t be ridiculous. If you feel sick, like you have a fever and a cough, don’t go to the football. People are literally dying from it. If you have the coronavirus, you’d bloody know about it.”

More to come.
