A Betoota Grove primary schooler told our reporters this morning that he’s getting ready for another big day of being left largely unsupervised.

Myles Overell, the youngest son and the only child born in wedlock to The Advocate’s editor, Clancy, spoke briefly to our reporter this morning through the front gate of his family home.

As Clancy is currently a third of the way through a 24-month driving ban for a high PCA and operating an unregistered horsedrawn cart, our reporter is currently giving him a lift to the newsroom each day.

“Mum and Dad go to work every day so I just get to stay at home,” said Myles.

“What do I do all day? I go on the iPad and I watch the kid shows on the TV. My favourite is Andy’s Prehistoric Adventures. My Dad hates the show. Every time my Mum tells him to sit with me and watch the show, he makes a gun with his hand and puts it in his mouth,”

“He’s funny.”

Clancy then barreled out the front door and asked Myles in a pained voice why he was outside in the frost without shoes on.

“Jesus Christ, son! You’ll lose your toes if you’re not careful! Get back inside, your mother’s made you some Coco Pops. She’s warmed them up in the microwave, too, you lucky little bastard.”

More to come.
