In some sensational news out of the Southern city of Melbourne, Austrian up and comer Dominic Thiem is reportedly considering a sensational code switch.
The World Number 5 who went down to Novak Djokovic in a heartbreaking manner over 5 sets last night in the Australian Open final is set to be weighing up a mid-career sporting change.
With a bit of time on his hands after the devastating loss, Thiem exclusively told The Advocate that he’s contemplating pursuing a career as a mid-2000’s test cricketer.
Thiem refused to confirm or deny whether the sensational mid-career leap was as a result of his frosted blonde tips, which have stoked controversy over the course of the tournament.
“I’m not going to rush into any decisions right now,” said the crushed young man.
“But, I’ve been working on my offies and my cover-drive, and it’s definitely an option I’m considering.”
This comes after Thiem came ever so close to beating Djokovic who physically touched the chair umpire, abused the chair umpire and the crowd in a fashion, that if done by another far more charismatic tennis player would have the nation calling for his head.
If he confirms the code hop, it will be the first male tennis player to ever commit the jump, and the most significant since Ash Barty made the leap.
It remains to be seen how he will jump back in time.
