The boss of Australia’s flag carrier airline has hit back at controversial tennis player Margaret Court over her comments surrounding gay marriage, telling The Advocate that ‘she’s more of a Tiger type anyway.’

Alan Joyce today took the opportunity to address remarks made by Court during an interview the West Australian online blog last week, where she quoted The Bible in her argument against same-sex marriage.

“I believe in marriage as a union between a man and a woman as stated in the Bible,” she wrote.

The comments were immediately criticised by the youth and left-leaning burnouts, with calls for a stadium named after the grand slam winner to be renamed falling on undead ears.

However, Joyce opted to take the high road.

“Personally, I’m glad the tired old bag doesn’t fly with Qantas,” he said.

“She’s more of a Tiger person, anyway. She can harp on publically about hating gay marriage in one of those glorified bogan missiles and it’d probably be met with rapturous applause. Those things are basically flying intercity trains. Anyway lads, I’ve got to run.”

The Advocate reached out to Margaret for comment, but have yet to receive a reply.
