A Betoota Heights bloke has been pleasantly surprised this week, after his girlfriend not only said yes to seeing the new Top Gun movie but also expressed quite a lot of enthusiasm at the prospect of seeing the sequel to the 1986 classic.
Knowing that Anna wasn’t the biggest fan of that genre, Nathan Wilson had been fully prepared to see it with his mates instead. However, when he’d casually mentioned seeing it at the local Hoyts, Anna had quickly suggested seeing it at an IMAX theatre instead – reasoning that a movie of that calibre was worth seeing on a bigger screen.
“Wait, are you serious?” Nathan asked, taken aback by how easy it was to convince her, “I thought you hated Tom Cruise?”
“Well yeah I don’t like him personally but you can’t deny he’s not talented”, admitted a sheepish Anna, “plus I’ve heard it’s better than the original.”
Scoffing as he insisted that there was no way a sequel could beat the homoerotic cheesefest that was the original, Nathan had simply responded by belting out “HIGHWAY TO THE DANGERZOOOOOONNNNNE” and booking some gold class tickets.
It’s alleged Nathan had naively believed Anna had taken a sudden interest in action movies, until he spied her scrolling through her Tik Tok feed later that night – with every second video being a slow mo edit of Miles Teller running shirtless on the beach (sadly not covered in baby oil like the original).
“Oh I see how it is.”
“But yeah fair, he’s got quite the rig.”
