Local Sydney man Matty Thompson (31) has emerged from two weeks of non-stop rain not only with a newfound Geordie accent but also sporting a sharp skin fade haircut – and the phenomenon has shocked friends and family.

The unprecedented weather phenomenon has left scientists wondering how such heavy rainfall could have caused a change in accent and hair growth.

“It’s truly remarkable,” exclaimed Dr.Prasad, a dialectologist at South Betoota Polytechnic University.

“We’ve seen how extended periods of rain can affect mood and behavior, but this is a whole new level. It’s as if Matty has been transplanted from the streets of Newcastle straight into the heart of Sydney.”

“This is unprecedented”

Matty, a born and bred Sydney man has never been to the UK or even the northern hemisphere.

Midway through the recent Sydney wet period he noticed himself involuntarily developing a twang in his accent and by the end of the 2 week downpour he had completely lost his Australian accent and acquired a Geordie one.

Additionally, Matty has noticed a unique form of balding that has resulted in him developing what appears to be an extremely clean skin fade.

“I don’t know what ‘appened like. Every dey I just no’iced this bludy accen’ get stronga and stronga” the man explained.

“my hair, I’m loosin’ my hair all round the sides like.. I don’t know what to do!”

The man went on to explain that he has randomly had the urge to get his fake veneers and go to a nightclub and start an altercation.

It’s still unknown if there will ever be a cure to Matty’s recent issues.

More to come.
