The Prime Minister has been caught out telling fibs to the media again after telling them he had a pie for lunch despite being seen by multiple reporters eating a family-sized quiche at the Queens Terrace Cafe within Parliament House.

By his own admission, Scott Morrison said it would be easy to confuse the two but he most certainly did not polish off an eggy treat the size of a garbage can lid.

“What a ridiculous thing to accuse me of,” he said.

“Why would I lie about what I had for lunch? When so many of you were also in the cafe? It seems to me that your memories might be defective. Look, I can show you the receipt.”

When asked to produce the receipt by a reporter, Mr Morrison explained that he doesn’t actually have it on him at the moment.

However, a reporter from the ABC challenged the Prime Minister on his claims, saying he saw him eating a quiche.

“With the greatest respect Prime Minister, you were eating a quiche and it looked like you were enjoying it,” they said.

“You didn’t even pause. That thing must’ve been two or three kilos and you ate it in like 7 minutes. It was a quiche. I know a quiche when I see one. You even smiled to yourself when you happened upon a rich vein of bacon buried deep under the surface,”

“Why are you telling everyone you had a pie?”

The Prime Minister repeated that he had a pie and that they must be mistaken – then left without taking any further questions.

More to come.
