With Christmas festivities complete, households across from across the New England region of north-west New South Wales are emptying by the minute.

Destination: Yamba, NSW

“It’s like our little home away from home” says Miles Liston, a New England Cotton Baron

“We finish Christmas with a gutful of prawns and cricket and then head directly east”.

With Hiluxes peppering the sleepy streets of the North Coast town like gas wells in the Liverpool Plains, Yamba locals say there would be a bit more hostility “if these morons weren’t so keen to blow $8 on a schooner of Tooheys New”.

“It’s no lie” says local surf shop owner, Mah’lia Tyson.

“The locals realise there’s no point going to the pub until the boarding schools in Sydney resume study”

“The publican charges 100% more on each tap beer. The butcher is selling legs of home for $500 a pop”

“I even got away with telling a young bloke wearing an Akubra that he had to pay to use the beach. Easiest $50 I ever made”.
