Audiences across America are abandoning coverage of the 2019 Super Bowl in their millions this afternoon – with many of them choosing to tune into Day Four of the Test against Sri Lanka in Canberra in the quest for a bit of action.

Ratings data show upwards of 400 million US viewers are currently watching Mitchell Starc and his fellow fast bowlers systematically dismantle the Sri Lankans in what’s being described as an absolute clinic.

Speaking candidly to The Advocate today via WhatsApp voice caling, Walter Point, of Gross Point in Michigan, said that the Super Bowl snooze fest was just too much for him to bare.

“So I went flicking through the channels and found some cricket,” he said.

“It was explosive as hell. Lots of shouting, entertainment and everything. No fireworks, though. Even the half time entertainment was better. Some leather-face guy, Ian Chappell I think his name was, he was making jokes and they were funny,”

“Another skilful raconteur, a real master with words, I think his name was Glenn McGrath. Fuck man, that guy can commentate a game of cricket. Better than the half time show in the Super Bowl. I’m a cricket fan now.”

The Advocate has reached out to Cricket Australia for comment but has yet to recieve a reply.

More to come.
