LEROY PERCIVAL | Uncle Tony Contact

Reports have surfaced this week that federal minister Michaelia Cash has been begun clutching her handbag close to herself when in close range of Tony Abbott.

Ms Cash, the Minister for Small and Family Business, Skills and Vocational Education, has reportedly been seen tucking her handbag tight under her arm, while taking an abnormally wide berth, when passing by Mr Abbott in the halls of parliament.

This behaviour was not lost on Mr Abbott, who was last week asked to serve as a “Special Envoy” for indigenous affairs, which is kind of like Scott Morrisons version of “Chief Napkin Folder” – but reserved especially for former Prime Ministers who need to feel important but also have a lot of experience working with blackfellas in their own electorates.

He believes that there are several ministers displaying similar behaviour, though Ms Cash gets particularly “jammy” when approached by Abbott.

“I’ll just be wandering round, yarnin’, and next thing sis is off across the lawn, squeezing her bag. TG. She’s proper womba that one”.

Mr Abbott has considered playing up to Ms Cash’s insecurity around him by trying to speak to her or get her attention, though he’s being careful not to jeopardise his special role, or to upset the bossman.
