The sporting world is today apparently acting as if it has just learnt that FIFA might be a little bit dodgy.
The shocking realisation comes after the big dogs at FIFA stepped in to get an American player's ban over turned for their crunch Round of 16 clash against Belgium.
Star US striker and self proclaimed next Messi, Folarin Balogun was initially set to miss the game after being sent off in the Round of 32 game against Bosnia, and subsequently suspended for the following game.
However, after a quick call from the FIFA Peace President and American President Donald Trump, Balogun's ban was overturned in a jiffy.
That decision has rattled the world who seemingly think a global organisation constantly marred by allegations of corruption, hosting a tournament in a country run by a guy who makes up departments for his mates to run, would allow this level of political interference.
"Honestly, it's just beyond the pale," said one football fan who has seemingly forgotten FIFA bribes countries for votes, accepts bribes for media rights, engages in racketeering, and plays host to a variety of other pretty dodgy behaviours.
"I mean, this Infantino makes Sepp Blatter look like a saint."
"I can't believe they would do this."
"I can't believe I'd find myself in a position where I'm supporting the Belgians either."
"What a weird world we live in."
More to come.
