The Wests Tigers NRL club has today tried to get in on a bit of action, in a move that has been labelled by pundits as 'cute.'
This comes after the bombshell announcement from the Sydney Roosters last night, that they would be pulling their contract offer to halfback Sam Walker - with the Wests Tigers now keen to 'swoop.'
This morning its since been alleged that the Roosters are now happy to let him walk out the door immediately, meaning the young Origin and Kangaroo half will be in the new colours come next season.
The tough talk from the Roosters has since set the rugby league world into a frenzy, with Nick and the tri-colours not known for mucking around when it comes to getting deals done.
As a result of the feeding frenzy which has seen half a dozen clubs touted as 'strong contenders' to land Walker, the long suffering Wests Tigers have thrown their hat in the ring.
Famous for wanting to sign everyone player under the sun in the last decade, the Tigers have apparently offered Walker a bumper $50 million dollar deal.
The offer would be the biggest deal in the history of the NRL by a long long way, eclipsing Dylan Brown's 10 year, $13 million deal by a fair margin.
The deal is apparently back ended, so Walker would be earning 6 million a season by the back end of his career.
It's unknown how the club would be able to have a functioning salary cap if they spend nearly half of it on one player, but it's probably not worth thinking about for too long, because Walker will inevitably turn the deal down.
More to come.
