A slow adapter from Sydney is still using his buggy version of Tripview Lite instead of Google Maps, years after it's integration of Sydney's public transport system.

Despite Google Maps now offering live trains, buses, ferries, light rail and the metro all in one convenient app, Marrickville resident Josh Hargreaves (27) continues to stubbornly rely on TripView Lite, an app that appears to have been designed during Kevin Rudd's first term as Prime Minister.

Friends say Josh refuses to change despite regularly missing services due to delayed updates, random crashes and a refusal to pay the $5.99 required to save any of his routes.

"Mate Google Maps literally tells you where the bus is in real time," explained one friend.

"Yeah but TripView is the old faithful," replied Josh to his confused friend.

The long time user claims there is something comforting about the app's clunky interface.

"Everything's too complicated now. I don't need fancy maps and directions. I know my routes like the back of my hand so I can navigate the thing like a pro."

Experts say thousands of Sydney siders continue to use TripView out of habit, with many downloading it sometime around 2011 and never reconsidering their options.

"It just feels right," said another commuter while navigating a menu that looks like it was optimised for an iPhone 4.
