Sam Neill Dies After 78 Years Of Living The Skux Life

After a highly decorated career as a global star of screen, actor Sam Neill has died today in Sydney.

This comes after 78 years of living the skux life.

Known for his universality - as a masterful performer who could swap genres just as easily as accents. Sam Neill was born in Northern Ireland and raised in New Zealand, before making his way to Australia and then the world.

From the broadway stage, to blockbuster Hollywood films like the Thor and Jurassic Park series, to his storied TV appearances in programmes like Peaky Blinders - he appeared in more than 150 productions over a five-decade career.

Mr. Neill’s family have announced his death today, revealing "he was surrounded by family and passed with the dignity that has characterized his whole life".

His family have also revealed in the statement that he was “cancer free” when he died, and his passing was not related to his public battle with angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma in March 2022.

Even after soaring to the highest crests of global cinema, Neill was also known for keeping it real - and even in the later years of his career was known to accept roles well below his station, simply because he liked the script and wanted to support young filmmakers.

A man also not shy of lending his own voice to the world of animation, from The Simpsons to Bro'Town, his career is one that provided formative memories and moments for millions across all generations.

Specifically, Neill will be remembered as an icon for the hard knock youth of New Zealand and Australia - particularly due to his role as Uncle Hector - the gruff but gentles father figure who comes to be the guardian of a wayward street kid in the 2016 adventure comedy 'Hunt for The Wilderpeople'.

He did not choose the skux life, the skux life chose him.
