It's been the week from hell for Anthony Taylor (29).
The recently localised resident of the Byron Hinterland says he can't believe that the rug has been pulled out from underneath him by this current government.
The young man who moved to the region 5 years ago to escape the repression of capital city regulations, says he's not too happy about having to handball 47% of his business to government.
This comes after a big week of consuming and posting on the internet (to grow his business of course) about the government's recent changes to Capital Gains Tax.
"Like well done, they just killed entrepreneurism," said Antony, from the property owned by his family's trust that he uses as his principal place of business.
"Like what's the point now."
"When I turn my business into a proper empire and try and sell it and set my family up for the future," continued the man who may already be set up for the future but let's not get into that.
"The government just goes yoinnkkkkkk, thanks for coming and takes half of it," said the proud owner of a business with 4 clients.
"And I can't make money off shares any more."
"Or crypto."
Taylor says that he now no longer feels like he should bother with following his dad and brother's stock tips, because he'll just lose most of the gains.
"Crazy hey," finished the man who may or may not be aware that you need to be in the top tax bracket (180k or greater, which only less than 5% of the taxpaying population are in) for that to apply.
