After months of backlash for their cruel jokes about fellow politicians and controversial stereotypes about minorities, One Nation is officially clicking into campaign mode ahead of the 2026 Victorian election.
A recent Newspoll survey of Victorian voters shows Labor sitting at 24% of the primary vote, with One Nation creeping ever closer at 20%.
This means a One Nation-Coalition government is well within reach, with the Liberals notching 33% of the primary vote - while the Greens and Independents are sitting at 14% and 9% respectively.
As it stands, the National Party could be wiped out entirely in the state of Victoria, with One Nation filling the void as the next wave of rural MPs.
However, Pauline Hanson and her state leader Warwick Pickering still have to thread the needle yet. With a month until polling day, there is plenty of room to lose momentum before the finish line.
But with these current numbers, One Nation are resisting their inherent self-destructive nature and are now outlining REAL policies.
One Nation’s economic plan for Victoria, as outlined by Pauline Hanson, on behalf of her state leader who has suddenly being kept away from the public eye, focuses on tax relief above all else.
This is a relief for the Howard-era conservatives who were growing concerned that One Nation didn't have any other tricks outside of race-baiting and occasionally blaming women for domestic violence.
The party has long been criticised for being light on economic policies. However, with the Liberal Party limping at both Federal and state levels, it appears that 2026 is the time for One Nation to be taken seriously.
And while some questions have arisen over why this long-awaited fiscal policies were published in the exact same brushstroke font and log cabin aesthetic made famous by suburban publicans who have just discovered the wonders of ChatGPT, the announcement is being treated like the missing piece that Hanson and Pickering needed to become a formidable opponent for the tired Labor government.
The Federal Government has not responded to One Nation's plans for Victoria to stop paying GST while also receiving a bigger share of GST revenue.
