Blues supercoach Laurie Daley has today laid down the gauntlet to his troops.
With an Origin Decider in front of hordes of rabid Queenslanders just hours away, Daley has decided to use some good old fashioned emotional motivation.
Speaking to the boys after a visit to Brisbane's Gallery of Modern Art, Daley pulled up an image on his phone.
Amidst a time of crisis with good little worker bees pleading for their team to win a match and provide them with some joy, Daley presented the group with a stirring and dramatic photo of a Telstra technician down a man hole.
"Boys, you are obviously doing this for yourselves and the pay cheque," began Daley on the banks of the Brisbane River.
"And your families too I suppose."
"But I want you to do it for the people of NSW."
"Specifically those people who suffered through a devastating Telstra outage this morning," said Laurie, on the verge of tears.
"For the people who had to stare out the window on the train this morning."
"For the people who had to stand with their thoughts while they waited for their morning coffee."
"For the great state of NSW that was today without service for a few hours."
"That sacrifice, that suffering boys."
"I want you to channel that tonight."
"Go out there and make those people proud."
A drifting off Reece Robson was given a nudge at this point by Mitch Moses, before all the boys agreed to dig deep and give it 100%.
More to come.
